Rabbi Dan Gordon

It’s a Universalist fact! No two mothers are alike, and everyone has a unique relationship with their own mother and their experience of motherhood. On Mother’s Day 2026, storyteller Dan Gordon will share personal and universal tales of the one relationship everyone has in common, but that everyone experiences differently. Rabbi Dan Gordon has been a frequent presenter over the years at UFOH. Rabbi Gordon is spiritual leader of Temple Beth Torah of Humble, Texas, a position he has held since 1998. He has traveled the world as a sacred storyteller, bringing unique insights that entertain and inspire. His vast experience includes serving as a chaplain in prisons and hospitals and a deep connection with other faith traditions, including several interfaith trips to Israel. Rabbi Gordon is National Rabbinic Advisor to the Holocaust Remembrance Association, an interfaith coalition that honors victims, survivors, rescuers and repentant descendants of Nazi ancestors. In 2025, Rabbi Gordon became president of the professional association of Rabbis, Cantors and Chaplains for Jewish Renewal. He invites you to join him along the journey as he employs Jewish teachings to connect with universal themes. He has been published in three anthologies of Jewish stories, and is working on his own book, The Maggid of Texas: Tales from a Wondering Jew.

Rev. William Cork's favorite Unitarian writer is Theodore Parker—he was the subject of his master’s thesis. He was a person of hope, famously speaking of his confidence that the arc of the moral universe “bends toward justice.” He worked with passion to make his hope a reality. His thoughts and actions can serve as inspiration for the work of people of faith in today’s struggles for justice and peace.

There are many reasons for that, but one might be our reluctance to be mindful to what really drives people of our faith. We’ll look at what’s under our hood today, and I hope you’ll be pleasantly enthusiastic.
