Title: “Creating Dementia Friendly Congregations”
Speaker: Rev. Katie Norris
Accessibility, equity, and inclusion are important tenets of our faith, which includes people with cognitive decline such as Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Join dementia care educatior, Rev. Katie, as we talk about how our congregations can become dementia friendly, making a space that includes and supports our members with dementia.
Rev. Katie has been working in dementia care for 15 years as the director of her Creative Connections In Dementia Care® program, and she is the primary author of Creative Connections in Dementia Care®. She is an AMI Montessori for Aging and Dementia Practitioner, National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, and Brain Health Coach.
Katie provides community dementia education through her Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok accounts all under the name of CreativeConnectionsDementia. She is a family dementia care partner, having cared for her mother who had Lewy Body Dementia and her dad who has Alzheimer’s Disease. She provides direct coaching and Montessori care courses through their Care Partners House™ dementia care membership for family and hired care partners, as well as training for dementia care professionals and pastoral care and other trainings for churches who would like to become more dementia friendly.
