No Kings Protest
The “No Kings” protest on October 18 is a nationwide nonviolent demonstration opposing the President’s authoritarian policies, with events planned in every state. Purpose: The movement challenges what it sees as authoritarian actions by the President, including deploying federal forces in cities and detaining immigrants. Organizers emphasize that power should rest with the people, not a single leader.
Want to go? Would you like some folks to go with you and to march together?
Come join us on October 18th when several members of the Unitarian Fellowship of Houston are going to march for Democracy.
We’ll meet up at the Fellowship (1504 Wirt Road) on Saturday, October 18th by 12:15pm. From there we will carpool to the Northwest Transit Center to catch the METRO bus (the 161 leaves at 1:28pm or the 162 leaves at 1:13pm) which will drop us off across from City Hall. The event begins at 2pm. Fare is $1.25 each way. They take exact cash, or you can download the METRO APP and purchase a daypass. If you prefer, you can meet at the Northwest Transit Center (7373 Old Katy Rd.). Wear your yellow UU t-shirt, if you have one.
If you choose to drive directly to City Hall, there is available parking either along the street or in parking lots/garages. You can go to parking.com and enter the address for City Hall (901 Bagby) to see available parking lots in the area. Parking fees vary anywhere from $15 – $40 and above.
After the march, we will all return to the bus stop and travel back to the NWTC to return to the Fellowship.
